LiteScribe
Based in UK
Other
Transcription and AI note-taking software for interviews, focus groups and meetings, with an offline mode that runs entirely on the researcher's own machine.

Services

LiteScribe converts recorded interviews, focus groups, depositions and meetings into a searchable transcript with speaker separation, then generates a summary and a list of action items from it. A whole transcript library can be queried by meaning rather than by keyword.

Points most relevant to research use: over 100 languages with automatic detection; export to PDF, DOCX, SRT and plain text; and an offline mode on the desktop applications in which both the speech recognition model and the language model run on the researcher's own machine, so no audio and no transcript leaves the device. That matters for participant confidentiality and consent commitments. For completeness, when not in offline mode the cloud path is processed by AssemblyAI in the United States, and only the offline desktop mode is fully local.

Sessions can also be captured without a bot joining the call, so no extra participant appears in the attendee list.

Available for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, the web, and as Chrome and Edge extensions. Freemium: a permanent free tier of 120 minutes per month with no card required, and paid plans from 14.95 US dollars per user per month. LiteScribe is a software product run by the researcher, not a transcription bureau. The company is registered in the United Kingdom and was founded in 2024.
